How does Glipatab 25mg Tablet work?

Glipatab 25mg Tablet blocks kidney protein (SGLT2), removing blood sugar through the urine, lowering blood sugar levels, protecting the heart, and relieving symptoms.

Side Effects of Glipatab 25mg Tablet

• Thrush (fungal infection)
• Pain or a burning feeling when you pee
• Peeing more than normal
• Mild skin rash or itchy skin

Quick Suggestions:

• Empagliflozin is used alone or together with other diabetes medicines to control blood sugar and avoid long-term complications.
• It may cause your body to lose too much fluid (dehydration) or you may urinate more often. Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.
• It may cause hypoglycemia (low blood sugar level) when used with other antidiabetic medicines, alcohol, or if you delay or miss a meal.
• Always carry some sugary food or fruit juice with you in case you experience hypoglycemia symptoms such as cold sweats, cool pale skin, tremors, and anxiety.
• It can cause genital fungal and/or urinary tract infections (UTIs) in both females and males, so practice good hygiene.
• Monitor your blood sugar regularly while taking this medicine.
• Continuously take Empagliflozin, even if blood sugar seems controlled.
• If you miss a dose, don't compensate with more; consult your doctor. Have regular, small meals; avoid extended fasting. Watch for hypoglycemia signs like sweating, dizziness, and thirst; keep candies, glucose biscuits, and honey/sugar for emergencies, and contact your doctor. Essential during travels too.

Glipatab 25mg Tablet, an antidiabetic medicine when combined with a proper diet and exercise, works as a therapeutic routine for treating patients suffering from type 2 diabetes.

Pharmacology

Empagliflozin reversibly inhibits SGLT2, which reabsorbs glucose in renal tubules. This lessens glucose reabsorption, lowers renal glucose threshold, and boosts glucose excretion in urine, reducing blood sugar levels.

Dosage & Administration of Glipatab 25mg Tablet

The recommended dose of Empagliflozin is 10 mg daily, in the morning, with/without food. Can increase to 25 mg if tolerated. Address low volume before starting. For overdose, contact a doctor or hospital. If missed, take as remembered; if near the next dose, skip. Don't double dose.

Interaction

Prior to using Glipatab 25mg Tablet, notify your doctor if you're on these meds:

1. Diuretics (for blood pressure, fluid) like Furosemide, Chlorthalidone
2. Sulphonylureas (for high sugar) like Glimepiride, Glyburide

Contraindications

If you are allergic to empagliflozin or any other ingredient of Glipatab 25mg Tablet.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Empagliflozin's effects on pregnant women aren't well-studied. Only use during pregnancy if benefits outweigh fetal risks. Its presence in human milk isn't known; not recommended for breastfeeding.

Precautions & Warnings

Prior to taking Glipatab 25mg Tablet, inform your doctor if you:

• Have type 1 diabetes (no insulin production)
• Could face dehydration risks (nausea, diarrhea, fever, reduced intake)
• Experienced severe urinary tract infection with fever
• Had necrotizing fasciitis of perineum or Fournier’s gangrene (pain, swelling, redness in genital area)

For pediatrics: Glipatab 25mg Tablet isn't generally advised for those under 18. Consult doctor.

For geriatrics: Elderly (above 75) should consult a doctor due to limited experience.
